Lisbon Chronicles | Central Tejo

The Central Tejo is today one of the indisputable architectonical landmarks of the city. But, when it was built (the oldest part of the building is from 1908) was also a technological pioneer in the area of power production.

In the beautiful buildings of Central Tejo functioned, for years, the Electricity Museum that is now integrated in the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT). In the monumental neighborhood of Belém, the Central Tejo is close to Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, Torre de Belém, Padrão dos Descobrimentos and Centro Cultural de Belém.

Visited Central Tejo in one of those sunny days so characteristics of Lisbon and the red brick walls glowed against the blue skye. An exhibition held on the exterior grounds of the Central was the perfect accessory to photograph the stunning industrial architecture of the building.
